Okay, so I might be a little bit late to the game, but I have just discovered OneTab and I am so impressed and pleased that I have to mention it.
I’ve been overwhelmed with browser tabs many times before, I even wrote a post about it on an old blog long ago and suggested that punishing yourself by keeping the tabs open would force you to read them and move on.
I’ve been moving far away from that mindset because I just got really tired of punishing myself for everything, there is only so much energy I have each day before I just give up and hide in my bed (seriously, I hide in bed when there is too much to do!).
For the past 4-5 days, I’ve had about 15 tabs open in my browser, all waiting for my attention, with various levels of ‘importance’ about them. Some are to do with possibly moving my blog over to paid-hosting, some to do with Monster Hunter: World (a video game I am currently hooked on), then there are tabs for online courses related to career progression. I’ve been staring at the list every day and feeling like I’ll need each one at some point, but not really being ready to deal with them just that day, and then the next day comes.
I gave up today, I just couldn’t carry on looking at all those tabs, and I was about to just close them down, then I remembered reading something about OneTab. Installing it from the Firefox Addons store took a brief moment, and then it was casually sitting on my toolbar, waiting for me to take action. I just hit the button and woosh, all the tabs gone, just sitting in a list on a tab aptly named OneTab.
My first feeling after surprise was liberation, I’m back in command of my browser! Only thing is, how quick and easy is it to open up those tabs again? Well this tab I am writing from was in my OneTab list and it loaded almost instantly, so I’m pretty happy with that. Not only that, but there’s even a Restore All option, should I want to return to the horror of all those tabs staring back at me (I don’t).
So there you have my glowing recommendation, stick all your tabs in OneTab and just use one or two at a time, it feels much better this way!
