Yesterday I got my student number from the University that I am doing my Data Science apprenticeship with and I am so excited! Honestly, I thought I had missed my chance to do a degree and resigned myself to never having one. I’ve done okay for myself and I was quite sure that I didn’t need Read More

Udacity Saves The Day
I am so far off track with my Nanodegree, the deadline came and went yesterday. Luckily, what also came yesterday was an email from Udacity explaining that they were giving me another 4 weeks to complete the course! This is something I had read about before on their website, but I still really wanted to complete Read More
Coming Clean On Frustration
Yesterday I wrote a post about how frustrating this game, slither.io, can be. On reflection, it wasn’t really the game at all. Sure there were other players acting in seemingly irrational ways, but that’s normal, I expect that. The reason my frustration got blown out of proportion is that I couldn’t understand some details of the Read More
My Study Grind Is Almost Over
I haven’t posted anything here for over a week because any spare time I have to put my mind to something, I’ve been studying. As much as I’ve grown to enjoy it, writing does still take some effort. I’ve decided to expend that effort on studying instead, since I am so close to the deadline! With Read More
Starting With A Study Plan
It’s all well and good having a study plan, but it won’t work if you don’t stick to it. So far, I’m not sticking to it. On the upside, it helped me prioritise better and now I’ve decided that I can let the Business Statistics course wait for another month. On the downside, I’m having trouble Read More
28 Days Later
No, not the film, although it is one of my favourites. I reviewed my Nanodegree deadlines yesterday and realised that I have 28 days to finish the remainder of the course and submit my final project. After the submission, there is still time for adjustments following feedback, but I do need to at least submit it. Read More
Good News Everyone!
I got the confirmation today that I would be accepted to join a Data Science Apprenticeship degree. The head of admissions approved me based on my work experience (years of business metrics, Excel and VBA) and self-study (Business Statistics and Advanced Excel)! To clarify, this apprenticeship will be for an actual Bachelor’s degree in Data Science. Read More
Here Comes The Predictive Analysis!
My next Nanodegree project feels more like my regular work than the last. I basically need to cleanse and combine multiple data sources, then use that data to predict future sales. It’s also reassuring that a course in analytics is starting to resemble my current job role. Not reassuring of the course content, but reassuring of Read More
How I Met My Study Buddy
School was not my favourite because I really didn’t fit in. In fact, I hated the majority of it. So when the opportunity came to drop out at 16, I did. I then went to community college just to do my GCSEs and a GNVQ in IT and found a completely different environment that reminded me Read More
Experience So Far With A Udacity Nanodegree
Predictive Analytics has been pretty interesting so far. While there was some content I had already been through before, I definitely needed a refresher. I basically re-did everything I’d done before just to make sure I knew what I was doing. Alteryx certainly helps make a lot of data prep and analysis work super easy. If Read More
